Aperitif restaurant: Your Go-To Spot for Tasty Pre-Theatre Meals in Sunderland

We went before the theatre and the service was quick. We were in and out within 1 hour. Service felt a bit rushed to begin with as we were asked multiple times if we were ready to order even though we had only been at the table a couple of mins. This is in the ideal place to grab some food before a show. Food was tasty. Portions were average (could have been better). We weren’t shown the specials board which other tables were given to view. The restaurant itself is quite small with tables packed inside (not much room to move around the tables). There is no room for waiting as it has a very small (1 person) entrance way. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon celebrating my daughters birthday. Great service as always, lovely friendly staff. The food was delicious I had the mushroom and asparagus risotto and it was gorgeous. Took full advantage of the 2 for 1 cocktails and they were really nice. Never disappointed when we visit here and will definatley be returning.

Food and service were spot on and the surface turf is the biggest I've ever seen and well worth the cost. Mussel starter was also massive with large mussels. Very happily surprised. The restaurant has a big box room which allow sound to echo, only a 4, for atmosphere but only just. And wheel chairs are a no no. Tight entrance and the loo is up 3 set of stairs.

I had a lovely meal here after working at The Firestation almost next door. I started with a cocktail - whiskey sour - very good and reasonably priced. Then I had lasagne and a side salad with a glass of Malbec. The food and wine were excellent. The lasagne obviously homecooked. Good value too at £9.50. The seafood on the next table looked great. The staff were really friendly. I went on my own but immediately felt very relaxed. It's a special place, it's fun and friendly and they serve excellent food.

You couldn't fault this place. Absolutely amazing food with friendly staff all round. The best lobster I have had for a long time. Steak was cooked perfectly and lamb was beautiful too . One of those places where you're dancing in your seat because the food it's so good

We've been here twice and it was spectacular each time! Fast service, beautiful cocktails and delicious food! Surf and turf is served with half of the lobster and it's so good!

Love this place, dined here a couple of times and sampled a few dishes. All beautiful, full of flavour. Lush cocktails also and they always have good deals on the drinks. One of the best places I've visited in Sunderland.

We booked before the theatre so the place was full but we were seated quickly and attended to with lovely service throughout. The food was banging, full of flavour and exactly what you want from Italian. It all felt like great value, so it'll be my number 1 place before a show.
